Saltwater daydreams

Sometimes I don't remember who I tell things to, or whether or not I've blogged about them. California has been in the back of my mind for awhile, and since I think about it all the time I sometimes assume that everyone knows.

I want to move. Badly. I bought a ticket out to LA and will be departing May 6th for a 9-day trip up the California coast. I'm super duper flippin pumped, not only for the first grown-up vacation I've ever taken, but also because I will be going with my absolutely amazing friend Ben. It's been many months since I've seen him, and we both need a huge dose of sunshine in our lives. So it's a big step on my way to moving out there. I'm applying for lots of jobs. Keeping my options open, but I'm feeling really set on Cali. Finishing up the very last of my school obligations.

In all reality the future is scary. But I don't really live in total reality right now. I'm in a fairly-dream like state of excitement, so I'll enjoy that before the fear of it all sets in. I have no idea where I will be 6 months from now. I hope it involves saltwater.

Birthday debauchery

Yesterday was my birthday, and a day filled with some very fun happenings. I started off the morning by having breakfast at Good Earth with two of my Bethel friends who I hadn't seen in 2 and 3 years, respectively. A nice time and interesting conversation was had by all, and plans were made to hang out again.

Last night a few of my friends met up with me at the Blue Nile for some good food and general ridiculousness. My birthday wish list had included a handsome man, which is exactly what my friend Mary got for me:

Yes, that would be "Surfs-Up" Ken. And that would be me doing a body shot off of him. Not my idea, but I figured what the heck.

More of the good times (you can click on the slideshow to see the pics if you're too impatient):

All in all, it was a great birthday!

Oopsies!

So... I'm not really sure why there was a link to a sex toy site on my previous blog post. That's not where I went to take the quiz, and I didn't realize that it had attached a link to the aforementioned site along with the quiz results. I couldn't find a way to detach the link without messing up all the html, so I just deleted my previous blog entry. Soooo yeah, sorry about that folks.

*Awkward silence*

Moving on. I have no less than 3 dates this week. I haven't been having the best luck with match.com (despite the success of my girlfriends who joined with me), but somehow a few different conversations that I've been having with a few different guys have culminated into a week of many dates. We'll see if all 3 actually happen, as internet daters are known to be a bit flaky.

Today I watched the Business of Being Born. Like I've said many times, I don't even know that I want my own biological children. I know with more certainty that I want to adopt. However, this documentary takes a look at home birth as an alternative to hospital birth, and I think it is a must-see for any woman. It focuses in on how natural birth can be an incredibly empowering experience for women.

I'm off to do some homework before the night's festivities.... I'm going to go see Be Kind, Rewind. Have a happy Tuesday!
