Day 10: Something You're Afraid of
When I was around 3 or 4 years old, my cousin Micah and I thought we would share a bottle of my great aunt's pills. I think this was before the invention of child-proof bottles. Anyway, this adventure ended in a dose of ipecac for each of us. My best guess is that this has something to do with my emetephobia (fear of vomiting).
Yep. I haven't thrown up since I was 5 years old. I don't remember what it is like. Nausea causes me to have panic attacks, and if I am in the presence of someone else who pukes, you can count on me running for the door. Don't worry folks, I'm in therapy!
I understand that it is an illogical fear. No one ever died of puking (I don't think). But fear is irrational and we don't really have control over it. I'm sure that when I have kids, I'll get used to puke in every way, shape, and form.
